Mixing color for faux painting
I was just at a new clients house and noticed that she had some faux painting in her living room. I inquired and asked why she didn’t call that person back to do the work she was requesting from me? She said she didn’t like the color and the faux artist couldn’t change the color because it came from a kit and she would have to buy another kit to change the color. I was so amazed that anyone would go out and sell them selves as a faux artist if they couldn’t mix color or at least offer a “yes” to buying another kit if the color isn’t what they wanted.
I primarily teach faux painting techniques on my videos and I do go into how to choose color for the finishes, however, it’s really difficult to get in-depth about color on camera. If I did offer and teach a hands on faux painting class, I think I would emphasize as much as I could about mixing color. I would love some feedback on that comment. knowing how to mix color and change the color on a job is one of the most important parts of faux finishing.

I agree that to be limited to what a kit offers for color is
to be a handiperson who knows how to do a kit versus
a faux artist who mixes and matches and for sure works
to please the client. Trust is built on making the client
happy and keeping to the price that was set (even at my
expense).
