Using quality house paint will really make a difference. The better house paints always cover better thus having better hiding qualities. There ingredient in the pigment is called titanium dioxide that determines how well a paint will cover.
The better the paints are also easier to apply and will dry with a smoother finish. It’s really like anything else, you get what you pay for and inexpensive products my cause you more of a headache and wouldn’t be worth the small amount of money you’d save.
