I finally got a chance to do a basket weaving technique. That is one of those finishes that I rarely have a call for. But when I do it’s always the perfect solution for the area.
I actually had to refer back to my DVD, Weave, Drag & Com, as I wasn’t quite sure as to [...]

I’ve been working on an outdoor mural and wow I now know why I don’t do much of this. There is so many things that change during the day outside compared to working indoors.
First its cold in the morning, so I;m dressed in a heavy sweatshit and the dampness in the air messes with my [...]

Using quality house paint will really make a difference. The better house paints always cover better thus having better hiding qualities. There ingredient in the pigment is called titanium dioxide that determines how well a paint will cover.
The better the paints are also easier to apply and will dry with a smoother finish. It’s really [...]

I’m excited to say they want another piece of art for the restaurant. They found another space that needs to be filled and I’m going to deliver the painting tomorrow. My art promoter said they haven’t let her hang art in that room for a long time and I should feel lucky.
Hanging artwork

Today was great, I was invited to hang a few paintings in one of Long Beaches top restaurants. It was fun to see these paintings again and in a new setting. I believe they add a lot of life to the bar. I’m wondering why I never tried to get my work hung in these [...]
Questionable Art

I just got back from a few art openings. I must admit they certainly are entertaining. The crowd is fun to watch and I’m always amazed at how conservative I think I look at these events. No where else do I feel that way?
Anyway, I saw some great art but there is always that stuff [...]

Have you ever wondered what makes up paint. I’ve always only thought of it as just some liquid that I pour my colorant into. But there in more to it than that. I’ve found this page on my customers, (Color Wheel Paints,) web site and it gives clear definitions of what paint is all [...]
Faux painting textures with many layers

I just created this textured finish for a client and I was so relieved that they knew me. I mean the first layer I put on and had to leave over night was shocking. She just looked at me and said, “I’m not worried”.
I believed her because I’ve done a great deal of work for [...]
Faux painting tools

I just read some advice on faux finishing and they mentioned that you don’t need expensive tools to do faux painting. I have to agree, for the most part the tools I use aren’t that expensive.
The paint brushes I primarily use for wall finishes are the natural china bristle ones but I get the inexpensive [...]
DVD Review

I just found this review online and it’s perfect because it states what I intended and succeeded in doing when I made the dvd’.
“Good instruction and, as a professional finisher, I was impressed at the number of tricks of the trade to use when applying Venetian plaster. Overall a very good DVD.”
